THE GOLDEN TALE

The Edwardian Ball's 20th Anniversary! Featuring Edward Gorey's "The Lost Lions" and Celebrating TWENTY YEARS of Gorey's stories through music, theatre, and unfathomable revelry!

Dearest Edwardians!

As winter winds turn towards fall breezes, as we huddle around the flickering fire of crackling lion bones, we can't help but notice the teetering tower of stories, reaching towards the rafters of our Gorey-filled library. Hark! Has it been that long? What began with a mere Gashlycrumb has clearly led us down a velvet rabbit hole of creative wonder, filled with whimsical monsters, unwelcome visitors, haunted hotels, tea cosies, beastly babies, flying bicycles... and through it all, we've done this together! Let us now set our sights on a proper Twentieth Anniversary celebration... let the revelry ensue! Raawwrrrrr!

The world-famous Edwardian Ball is back for our 20th Anniversary San Francisco Celebration.

Join us for two days of music, dance, fine art, theatre, circus, gaming, storytelling, costumes, vending, oddities and of course, the art & stories of our patron saint Edward Gorey!

2020’s theme glistens in nobility as "The Golden Tale" - an apologue of the vast community of artists, dreamers, bards and bastion that have built the Edwardian Ball into the magnificent happening it is today. And of course, we tip a golden mane to our 2020 featured Gorey tale, "The Lost Lions."
